Footsteps of Buddha 2 is a spiritually soulful and enlightening journey that takes you on a journey through places where Buddha is known to have treaded, including his place of birth, death and where he attained his enlightenment. For 11 days and 10 nights you will be immersed in the deep devotion of Lord Buddha along with being taken through some of the most historic monuments in India.

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi

Your holy journey will kick start with your arrival in Delhi where our representative will escort you to your allotted hotel here for spending the night.

Day 2: Delhi sightseeing tour

Your Delhi sightseeing tour will commence in the morning with a visit to Jama Masjid – the largest mosque constructed by the architecture loving emperor Shah Jahan. Located close to the mosque is another spectacular structure of the Mughal era, Red Fort – which is built entirely of red sandstone and also houses numerous museums which will give the visitors an insight into the life and times during the Mughal era.

You will then be taken to one of the prime landmarks of Delhi city, India Gate, which is a 42 metre high archway, commemorative structure for the fallen heroes of the 1919 Afghan war. Later on in the evening you will be driven to Humayun’s tomb – a Taj Mahal inspired memorial building. Your finaly destination for the sightseeing tour will be the complex of Qutab Minar, which is the tallest brick tower ever made.

You will finally be headed back to your hotel here.

Day 3: Delhi – Lucknow – Shravasti

In the morning you will be guided to the airport where you will be boarding the flight to Lucknow. After a 1 hour long flight journey you will be arriving in the ‘city of nawabs’, Lucknow. Upon arriving you will be immediately driven to Shravasti, which is a 5 hours drive.

Upon your arrival here you will be transferred immediately to your allotted hotel where you will be spending the night.

Day 4: Shravasti – Lumbini

Your morning in Shravasti will commence with a visit to Sahet Mahet, which is located in Balrampur and here you will be witnessing the foundations of ancient temples, stupas and monasteries. After this, you will be taken to Lumbini – birthplace of Lord Buddha, which is a 6 hour drive and located in Nepal.

After completing your long journey, you will be guided to your hotel where you will be spending the night.

Day 5: Lumbini – Kushinagar

Early in the morning you will be taken for a darshan at the UNESCO world heritage site of Maya Devi temple – this is where Gautam Buddha was born to queen Maya of sakya. You will also be taken to the famous Ashokan pillar and the sacred stupas which were dedicated to Lord Buddha.

Your drive to Kushinagar – the place where Lord Buddha attained his Mahaparinirvana and passed on to the holy abode, will commence after this, which is a 6 hour road journey. Upon your arrival you will be immediately transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Kushinagar – Varanasi

Early in the morning you will be taken to the place of death of Gautam Buddha which is the mahaparinirvana temple. Next you will be taken to Ramabhar Stupa which is a dome built over the cremation site of Lord Buddha. It is located close to the mahaparinirvana temple and is also an extremely vital Buddhist pilgrimage site.

You will later be driven to the ancient holy city of Varansi, which is located at a driving distance of 8 hours. Upon your arrival here you will be immediately checked in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Varanasi sightseeing

Early in the morning you will be taken for a boat ride on top of the Holy River Ganges where you will witness the glorious sunrise. Today you will be taking a complete sightseeing tour of the city of Varanasi starting with a visit to Bharat Mata temple – a temple which is dedicated to an undivided India rather than gods and goddesses.

You will also be taken to Tulsi Manas Mandir – the place where ramcharitmanas was written by Goswami Tulsidas. The final sightseeing destination of the day will be the famous Banaras Hindu University, one of the most prominent landmarks of Varanasi and in Asia for being the largest residential university.

After a wholesome sightseeing of this majestic city you will be taken back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Varanasi – Bodh Gaya

Early in the morning you will be made to leave for Bodh Gaya – a 7 hours road journey. En route you will be made to visit Sarnath – the city where Buddha gave his very first sermon after attaining his enlightenment after meditating deeply under the Bodhi tree.

Upon finally arriving at Bodh Gaya you will be immediately transferred to your allotted hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 9: Bodh Gaya sightseeing

Your entire day will be consumed in visiting some of the prime places of interest in Bodh Gaya starting with a visit to the famous Buddhist pilgrimage spot of Mahabodhi temple, which was built by Ashoka and houses a descendant of the bodhi tree under which Buddha had attained his enlightenment after meditating deeply for numerous weeks.

You will also be taken other places of religious interest here like, Buddhist monastery of Bhutan – which was built by the king of Bhutan as an homage to the religious teacher. Later you will be made to head towards the traditional Wat Thai Temple, which was built by the monarch of Thailand as ways of paying his honor to Buddha making it one of the prime Buddhist destinations in Varansi.

Your next destination here will be the oldest and the largest monastery of Bodh Gaya – Tibetan Monastery, which houses an enormous collection of Tibetan religious scriptures, writings and other ornaments.

Before heading back to your hotel for the night you will be taken to the famous archeological museum of Bodh Gaya, which was established in the year 1956 and is located close to the Mahabodhi temple housing a massive collection of Buddhist relics and items.

Day 10: Bodh Gaya – Patna – Delhi

You will be taken to Patna in the morning, which is a 6 hours drive from Bodh Gaya. Enroute you will be stopping over for visiting the famous locations of Rajgir – an ancient city known for homing some of the most prestigious Budhhist temples in Bodh Gaya; Nalanda – one of the top ancient universities in the world and the centre for religious studies where Guatam Buddha is said to have given lectures on Buddhism to the learners from India as well as Abroad.

Upon arriving at Patna you will be taken to the airport from where you will be made to board the flight to Delhi, which will take 1 hour 30 mins. Here you will be made to transfer to your allotted hotel for spending the night.

Day 11: Delhi departure

Today your footsteps of Buddha 2 tour package with us will conclude when you will be transferred to the airport in the morning after a hearty breakfast meal.
